Electric Pumps

When I started the hire business it is safe to say my arms were sore.

The main reason for this is because everytime a board would come back I would need to pump them up and check them for splits, damage and just generally give them a once over.

After pumping them up, I would wipe them down using anti-bacterial wipes before allowing the to dry and packaging them back up for the next customer.

In the peak of the summer we were hiring out multiple boards daily, let alone weekly.

This obviously meant I spent an awful lot of time sweating over a manual pump.

After god knows how many boards, I decided enough was enough and looked into some electric pumps.

To start with I actually had an air compressor so the first step for me was to buy a schrader valve.

If you don’t know what a schrader valve is, you can read my article about it here.

In short though it is an adapter that you can fit to an electric pump or compressor to pump up your paddle board.

After experiencing the relaxing task of inflating your board without nearly dying over a pump every time. I realised just what a sucker I had been and invested in an electric pump that I could use for my own paddle board adventures where I didn’t have the compressor with me.

This brings me on to my recommended electric pump.

Best Electric Pump

The best electric pump you can get for your SUP is the Seamax SUP Electric Air Pump.

You can check out the best price by clicking here.

This electric pump will have your board inflated and you out on the water in no time.

The Pump actually comes with quite a few nifty features which I will go into below.

Automated

The first and best feature about the Seamax pump is the fact that it is automated.

What I mean by this, is simply set the pressure you need to inflate your board using the digital display and watch the magic unfold.

The pump will continue to inflate the board until the desired pressure is hit, after which the pump will simply shut off.

However you need not worry about the air escaping as with the valve still attached and connected to the pump it will retain the pressure until you get there.

Maximum Pressure

Another great feature is the maximum available pressure. This pump is able to inflate your board to 20psi which for the vast majority of boards is absolutely ample.

Now it is true that some boards have a maximum inflation pressure of 22psi however, even in these rare cases 20psi will still be more than sufficient for you to get out on the water.

Power

Where you have a 12v connector which fortunately nearly every car in the world does, you can plug this bad boy in and get your board inflated.

Adapters

Previous predecessors of this pump used to only come with 1 adapter which many people found rather annoying.

Fortunately they heard the cries of many now it comes with a variety of different adapters.

Well 5 to be exact.

Now it’s true if you are buying this for your paddleboard then you will only need the one adapter.

But when you are splashing out the cash for an electric pump it’s always nice to know you can connect a different adapter to inflate some other things.

Sand Filter

The last massive win for this pump is the sand filter.

Given that many of us like to paddleboard in the open ocean off of a sandy beach this is a great feature to have.

In fact this is one of the only pumps currently on the market which features this which is mind boggling in itself.

Final Say

I’m you sure we have all heard the saying

‘Work smarter, not harder’.

Well I don’t think any statement has ever summed up so sweetly the reason to get your own electric pump.

If you are getting an electric pump for your ISUP, save yourself some time shopping around and purchase the Seamax SUP Electric Pump
